Summer as a kid was all about ... running as fast as you can ... being barefoot in long grass .... playing kickball in the street at 830 at night .... laughing so hard your stomach hurt .... catching fireflies.
This summer feels a bit like that.
We've been back in the US for a month now. How time flies!!
For those who have seen me (Nicole) in the last days or weeks, you may've heard me say, "Summer Goodness!" Summer is all good! Bountiful fresh fruit, catching up with fabulous friends and family, tons of parks, trails and events to explore, steamy afternoons blending into the thick air of night at 9pm, and watching my boys explore their own country and all of its wonderful, crazy quirks. Not to mention having Washington Post ink on my hands.
The boys are loving being back in the States, experiencing all of the things above. Here are a few glimpses of what they've been up to...it really is all summer goodness.
Hanging out with Oma and Opa
Watching the World Cup (if you want the most hysterical picture of WC viewing, email me...)
Visiting wineries, especially Barrel Oak, owned by two friends and classmates from G'town
Celebrating 4th of July at a Neighborhood Blockparty and parade and our first backyard BBQ, and summer hair
Exploring DC's best - the waterfront, Georgetown, Dean and Delucca M Street, National Zoo, Eastern Market...
And then there's the occasional nap...
all summer goodness.
You won't be seeing updates as regularly as you did in Quito, but check back occasionally to see some new photos.
